The Truth
...about big tobacco
Large tobacco companies would have you think they're benevolent behemoths, whose interests lie with their customers, and not in addicting and killing hundreds of thousands of americans every year. Through name changes and creative marketing they attempt to divert your attention from their primary, and very deadly product, onto their more benign enterprises. Phillip Morris' recent name change to "Altria", and their advertisements depicting tobacco industry employees as generous do-gooders, aiding flood and fire victims, are contrived and sinister farces attempting to change your attitude regarding their well-deserved reputation. In truth, large tobacco companies have one goal: to make the maximum amount of money from their best selling product (tobacco), by addicting thousands of new users (thereby creating more dependent customers) while maintaining their present customer base until they expire from use of said product.
